[Durham, NC – June 2025] ProcessMaker was selected as one of a few industry partners for Duke University’s AI Master of Engineering Capstone Practicum — a highly selective program that connects top AI students with leading technology companies.
Together, the teams developed an AI Agentic System for Process Assistance and Documentation Retrieval, combining world-class research with ProcessMaker’s vision for intelligent workflow automation.
A Strategic Partnership Bridging Research and Real-World Impact
The project was led by Jose Maldonado, VP of Product at ProcessMaker, who set the project requirements and directed its delivery, supported by Luke Molnar, SVP of Engineering, and the company’s AI team. At Duke, Dr. Pramod Singh, professor of AI Engineering, mentored a team of graduate students specializing in AI architecture, retrieval systems, and natural language processing.
“This project bridges the gap between world-class AI research and practical applications that help organizations work smarter and faster,” said Maldonado.
Outcomes Shaping the Future of Intelligent Automation
The Duke team delivered a modular AI agent architecture, a semantic documentation tool, and a process planner capable of turning natural language prompts into executable workflows. These prototypes — powered by GPT models, vector search, and advanced NLP — are already informing ProcessMaker’s roadmap for next-generation automation tools.
Being selected by Duke for this partnership highlights ProcessMaker’s growing reputation as a leader in enterprise AI, committed to translating advanced research into real-world solutions that drive measurable business value.
