Colosa and BitRock partner to simplify installation for ProcessMaker open source business process management software
BitRock’s custom Windows installer for ProcessMaker guides users through installation in minutes
Cambridge, MA and San Francisco, CA – March 13, 2008 – Colosa, a developer of business process management (BPM) software that enables small and medium enterprises(SMEs) to simplify workflow through the automation of paper-based processes, hasincorporated a Windows installer in its ProcessMaker software to ensure simple implementation for users of the Microsoft operating system.
The installer has been provided through a partnership with BitRock, a recognized leader of custom open source stacks. BitRock provides tools and services to numerous open sourceand proprietary independent software vendors to enable them to integrate, package, installand update their software.
ProcessMaker is a commercial open source business process management and workflow software solution designed for small and medium enterprises that enables rapid design andautomation of business processes including all involved web forms, output documents, userroles, 3rd party system integrations, and routing rules. It is web-based, SOA, and simple touse. It is used by private and public organizations that require automation of documentintensive,approval-based processes within operations, finance and human resources.
ProcessMaker is user-friendly, and the addition of BitRock’s Windows installer to both itsenterprise and open source versions means that new users who choose the Microsoft Windows operating system version will be up and running within minutes. ProcessMakerOSS v. 1.0 is available for download at www.sourceforge.net/projects/processmaker
BitRock’s custom installer includes an installation wizard that guides ProcessMaker usersstep-by-step through the configuration process. All the dependencies needed to runProcessMaker are bundled in the easy-to-install BitRock WAMP(Windows/Apache/MySQL/PHP) stack, including Apache 2.2.8, PHP 5.25, and MySQL 5.0.
“Small and medium enterprises have a need for efficiently managing their workflow, aproblem we address with a very different approach to business process management, atechnology that is traditionally viewed as complex and difficult to install. The widespreaduse of Windows and the need for small business users to have simple installation ofsoftware, combined with BitRock’s expertise, meant that this was a good technical andbusiness decision,” said Brian Reale, CEO of Colosa.
Erica Brescia, CEO of BitRock added, “As firm believers in the value of open source technologies, we understand the difficulties that often come up adopting open source in smaller enterprises. By having an easy-to-use installer, it decreases the total cost of ownership so that non-experts can quickly install and use ProcessMaker. Many business process management software offerings are too costly for SMEs, or too complex for them toimplement. Colosa’s ProcessMaker is the ideal solution for any small business that wants toautomate business processes.”
